I gave up long ago on the big, expensive, bloated, resource-sucking commercial security suites. Unless you have a super-fast machine with bucketloads of memory and money falling out of your pockets, they all deserve to be shunned. I’ve found a very effective, free, simple, and resource-light application that wil do the job for you.

Over time, time passes. But you probably knew that already. Also, Internet Explorer gets to be like a crotchety old woman forever blocking the aisle at the grocery store by pushing her cart right down the middle at negative 0.003 miles per hour. And if you think I’m being mean to the elderly, just wait till it happens to you.
Anyway, Internet Explorer (which I shall heretofore call IE) tends to get old and slow as you add more stuff to it, and even if you don’t. Stuff just gets added. You don’t want to know. But there is a way to tell all that crap to suck rotten eggs and get the heck out of town. Choose your own metaphor. Make it like it was new by following these simple instructions.
First, open the package and carefully inventory the contents, making sure nothing is missing, because if anything’s missing you’re screwed. Just kidding. Read on for the real instructions.
Open IE, then click on Tools>Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab, then click the Reset button. This will restore IE to its original settings, before you messed with it and mashed it to all to hell. You’re welcome.
